Working with a team of creatives, front-end interface and back-end developers this position requires a good, overall technical knowledge and understanding from a delivery perspective. The Technical Manager - Digital will also be responsible for helping drive the use of creative technology in the agency and help put in place processes and structures to do this in the most effective way.
Reports to: Technical Director
Key responsibilities:
* Technically lead across teams and clients. Be the primary support to the Technical * Director and the day-to-day technical team interface to all account and project teams.
People
* Reviewing candidate CV's.
* Involved in the interview process for new development staff.
* Key decision maker in the selection process.
Line Management Responsibility
* Taking responsibility for team performance and quality of output.
*Mentor and ensure the day-to-day well being of the team members and escalate any issues to Technical Director.
Team Management
* Responsible for resourcing of projects to developers based on skill set.
* Responsible for ensuring the technical quality of work produced by developers.
*Responsibility for documenting development projects.
*Ensure your team meets project deadlines.
*Manage all freelancers & 3rd parties used by the team and work with Operations Director to achieve this.
Technical Development
* Assist account team in the strategy & planning of technical projects.
* Work with designers & producers to deliver digital content and applications using website technologies.
* Establish testing process to ensure bug-free , QA'd products beyond unit testing.
Project specific
* Work alongside creatives and strategists to develop digital creative concepts from a technology perspective.
* Review design concepts prior to sign-off to ensure that they meet the timescales allocated in conjunction with the development team.
You must bring with you:
* Efficiency in the delivery of web based content and applications.
* The ability to implement technical processes and development environments.
* Experience of working in a team environment with separate designers and software engineers.
* Experience of working on consumer-facing sites.
* A thorough, broad, innovative knowledge and understanding of the Internet and emerging technologies such as mobile technology/Web 2.0 issues.
* Mentoring and managing other members of the front end team in development of above skills and ensuring work is done correctly.
Experience with:
* Experience of working in a team environment with separate designers and server-side ("back-end") software engineers.
* Knowledge of SourceSafe or SVN and its implementation on team level desirable.
* Back-End application servers and end-to-end infrastructure.
* Proven Interactive agency experience is preferred.
