We’re looking for a Technical Lead to work as a key member of our interactive team – someone with motivation, passion and a real desire to find the best technical solution for our clients. It’s a great opportunity to develop the technical side of our business, working closely with our Head of Interactive and Senior Digital Project Manager. This role will provide technical expertise and leadership in the evaluation, recommendation, and implementation of technologies. They will also be able to provide both objective technical analysis of existing systems and tools, as well as lead the implementation and integration of possible solutions. The successful candidate will also have the ability to provide hands-on programming as part of the project team.

Specific responsibilities:
• Create technical/functional specifications and a technical architecture (off-the-shelf software products, custom components, internal systems, data exchange tools and application integration).
• Work closely with other team members to develop solution recommendations that are driven by the client’s business objectives:
o Research and identification of solution options
o Articulation of risks, benefits, costs, and recommendation
o Defining system architectures and developing technical requirements
o Scope and monitor level of implementation effort
o Brief and lead other developers in the project team in the development, implementation and integration of systems
o Maintain in-depth technical expertise in all areas of web-related non-profit products and general web-related solutions for content management, contact management, email marketing, eCommerce, and transaction processing – including industry trends and competitive offerings.
• Contribute to proposals by providing subject matter expertise and scoping level of effort.
• Managing the technical team – in-house developers and outsourcing arrangements.
• Able to turn your hand to any digital technical issue with enthusiasm and interest.
• Prepared to learn / skill up in digital areas whenever required.

Required Skills:
Successful candidates must have significant experience and skills in the following:
• Profound knowledge of PHP and MySQL (or PostgreSQL)
• Drupal – we’ve made investments with existing clients running a Drupal CMS so a knowledge of this is desirable.
• Sound experience in at least one of the following other languages: Java, ASP, .NET, PERL, Ruby, or Python.
• Knowledge of (X)HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
• Experience with object oriented development techniques and tools.
• Experienced with full lifecycle software development methodologies and best practices in software development.
• Experience in administrating Linux, Windows, or Unix server environments.
• Develop technical requirements and detailed design documentation.
• Able to provide technical analysis, evaluations and preparation of technical recommendations to senior management.
• Produce detailed technical documentation (e.g. configuration documents, system architectures and database schemas).
• Conversant and supportive of the latest accessibility guidelines [Office of the e-Envoy, RNIB, WAI/W3C].

The successful candidate will:
• Be a strong and effective communicator; have excellent interpersonal and writing skills and be able to communicate with clients.
• Be able to multi-task in the support of multiple projects and clients.
• Have at least 3 years of professional experience.
• Have experience with Content Management, Email Marketing, e-commerce, and Transaction-Processing systems/products.
• Have a university degree in Computer Science or a similar field.

Package
We are offering a salary of £40k plus benefits, including profit share, contributory pension and subsidised gym facilities.
