To champion, deliver and continually develop the British Heart Foundation (BHF) online presence, positioning it as an online beacon for heart health information and support
You'll manage and investigate new online development opportunities, overseeing agencies or working in partnership with the internal IT team from concept to delivery.
You will also be responsible for the day to day basic technical needs of the team, including managing domains, building html templates and liaising with the IT team, or external agencies, for bug resolution.
To advise and support internal clients who have queries around, potential or actual, website development projects or ad hoc requests.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Management and planning
1. Support the online development strategy in line with the overall online direction set by the Online Manager and organisation as a whole.
2. Working with appropriate teams or agencies, create online development plan/s and processes to ensure appropriate use of resources, effectiveness and cross organisation awareness of activity
3. Ensure BHF online functionality is regularly reviewed and maintained as appropriate.
4. Ensure appropriate testing takes place during the development lifecycle or of any relevant third party online tools / functionality. This could include coordination of external and internal testers.
5. Ensure involvement and consultation with users and other key stakeholders when developing online functionality or websites, particularly ensuring the use of online statistics and trends to inform decisions
6. Manage the use of relevant external suppliers and agencies ensuring that sound project management disciplines are applied
7. Keep up to date and advise on new online functionality or trends and activity within the voluntary sector.
2. Implementation
1. Use project management techniques for online development activity to ensure successful outcomes, and effective documentation and consultation.
2. Seek and recommend new online functionality that supports the delivery of BHF organisation or team objectives.
3. Ensure that the results of online development activity are fit for purpose and conform to the highest standards. This includes enforcing relevant guidelines, processes and policies established with the BHF IT team and international bodies such as W3C.
4. With the Online Manager, ensure development activity fits within the online strategy and is appropriate for the channel, information architecture and end 1. users.
2. Ensure online functionality is routinely checked for compatibility and currency; this includes checking for broken functionality and testing in multiple browsers.
3. Produce basic HTML and CSS templates for email or other minor activity.
4. Produce or co-ordinate the production of graphics or multimedia assets as necessary.
3. Maintenance and internal support tasks
1. In partnership with IT, ensure online technical issues are investigated, reported and resolved efficiently.
2. Maintain and manage BHF domain registrations, ensuring they are renewed as appropriate.
3. Support internal clients who have queries around, potential or actual, website development projects or ad hoc requests.
4. Provide online development advice, training and support for internal clients and the online team.
5. Working with the Online Analysis and Support Executive use website statistics to evaluate and report on online functionality usage.
6. Carry out additional tasks to support the online team and to provide cover for other departmental staff as necessary
5. Partnership working
1. To liaise with relevant Foundation staff (including Shops Division and Regional Offices), website supplier(s), other suppliers and consultants as appropriate.
Proactively work with all of the online team to ensure the team and individual objectives are achieved
